Product Overview & Technical Data
Product Overview
Aluminium mounting rail for rooftop photovoltaic systems, extruded in 6005A-T5, with the clamp channel, splice geometry and roof-hook interface formed to the mounting system’s own design.
A rooftop rail is a small section doing a demanding job. It spans between roof hooks or standing-seam clamps at spacings the roof structure dictates rather than the array designer, it carries modules in both directions of load, and every load path in the system passes through its clamp channel. The channel geometry is the critical dimension: it has to grip the clamp T-bolt without allowing rotation under uplift, because a clamp that rotates lets a module go, and a released module on a pitched roof is a serious safety event rather than a maintenance item.
Splicing is the second detail that determines whether an installation is quick or slow. Rails have to join end to end to make a continuous run across a roof, and the splice has to transfer bending as well as hold alignment. Internal splice geometry designed into the extrusion is faster and stiffer on site than an external plate bolted across the joint.
6005A-T5 gives the mechanical rating a slender rail needs; 6063-T5 is available where surface finish leads the requirement, and 6061-T6 for the highest-duty components. Clamp channel dimensions, splice profile and hook interface are all system-specific, so rails are extruded to the mounting-system supplier’s drawing on a dedicated die – or an existing die is modified where the section is close.
Drawing or Sample In
Send a section drawing, a physical sample, or simply the opening schedule and the performance you need to hit. Our engineers come back with the series that fits – including when that is a different series from the one you asked about.
Die and First Article
If no existing die suits, a new one is designed with metal-flow simulation, machined and vacuum-nitrided on site, and a sample length is extruded for your approval before the run is scheduled.
Send the drawings, the opening schedule or the performance target. Our engineers will confirm the series, the alloy, the finish and the delivered price — and tell you plainly if another series in the range fits your project better.

What we can change for your project – and what we cannot
Material and Grade
Extrusion grades are 6063-T5, 6005-T5 and 6061-T6. The choice is a structural decision, not a marketing one: 6063-T5 gives the best anodised surface and covers most sections, 6005-T5 buys mechanical capacity where a slender section still has to carry load, and 6061-T6 handles the heaviest duty. Each heat is spectrometer-checked and the result is traceable to the delivered lot.
Surface Finish
Finish is specified from the full in-house range: anodising, powder coating, fluorocarbon (PVDF) coating, electrophoretic lacquer, wood-grain heat transfer and decorative finishes. Pre-treatment is chromium-free chemistry, electrostatic powder is first-tier, and colour is signed off against a physical sample before the production run starts.
Custom Tooling
Tooling is made in-house, which is what makes bespoke sections practical rather than theoretical. Flow behaviour is checked by simulation before steel is cut, the die is then machined and hardened in a vacuum nitriding furnace, and a first sample length is produced for approval before the run starts. Customer drawings and physical samples are both accepted as the starting point.
Made-to-Order Sizing
Everything that can reasonably be varied is varied to order – cut length, wall thickness within the section’s design envelope, finish colour and bundle size. A length schedule supplied with the order is cut to as issued, so material arrives ready to fabricate.
Factory and Export Capability
The approved partner manufacturer holds its own import-export licence for aluminium and aluminium products, so shipments are made direct from the factory rather than through an agent. Design capacity at the partner manufacturing base is 50,000 tonnes a year, over 100,000 tonnes across the group including multiple partner manufacturing bases. Export packing is moisture-barrier wrapping, protective film, foam interleaving and timber crating; FOB, CIF and DDP terms are all quoted and container loading is supervised in-house.
Extrude, Then Finish
The confirmed alloy and temper go through the press, then through whichever finish was agreed – anodising, powder, PVDF, electrophoresis or wood-grain transfer – matched to the approved colour panel.
Packed for the Voyage
Protective film, moisture-barrier wrap, foam between profiles and timber crates, loaded into the container under our own supervision, on FOB, CIF or DDP terms.
