Product Overview & Technical Data
Product Overview
exposed frame curtain wall 120 mm is engineered as part of the 65GRMQ120-180 stick curtain wall system, featuring a 65 mm visible face on both mullion and transom with a 120 mm mullion depth and a 14.8 mm thermal-break strip.
An exposed-frame curtain wall is specified when the grid itself is meant to be seen. The 65 mm face width is constant on mullion and transom, so the elevation reads as a true square grid rather than as vertical members with lighter horizontals – a distinction that becomes obvious on a large facade and is difficult to correct once the sections are extruded.
Mullion depth is where the engineering happens. Four depths are available – 120, 140, 160 and 180 mm – and the depth is selected by structural calculation from the floor-to-floor height, the wind pressure at the relevant elevation and zone, and the deflection limit in the governing code. The face width stays 65 mm throughout, which means the structural depth can change up a tall building – deeper at the exposed upper levels, shallower lower down – without any visible change to the grid. That is the single most useful property of a stick system with a constant face.
Ancillary materials are common across the whole 120-180 series, so one gasket, bracket and cleat schedule covers every depth used on the building. A wide choice of exposed cover-cap profiles sets the visual character – the caps are the part the eye actually reads, and changing them changes the facade appearance without touching the structural design.

Drawing or Sample In
Send a section drawing, a physical sample, or simply the opening schedule and the performance you need to hit. Our engineers come back with the series that fits – including when that is a different series from the one you asked about.
Die and First Article
If no existing die suits, a new one is designed with metal-flow simulation, machined and vacuum-nitrided on site, and a sample length is extruded for your approval before the run is scheduled.

What we can change for your project – and what we cannot
Material and Grade
Standard grades are 6063-T5, 6005-T5 and 6061-T6, selected against the duty of the individual section rather than applied uniformly across a system. Aluminium billet comes from large domestic producers and a direct-reading spectrometer result is recorded against each heat – one of three in-house laboratories, alongside chemical analysis and physical-mechanical testing.
Surface Finish
Surface treatment options are anodising, powder coating, fluorocarbon (PVDF) coating, electrophoretic lacquer and wood-grain heat transfer, the last of these running on a dedicated transfer line with a single-length vacuum oven. Pre-treatment chemistry is supplied by an approved partner manufacturer; powder is supplied by an approved partner manufacturer and equivalent first-tier brands. RAL and bespoke colours are both matched to a signed-off sample.
Custom Tooling
Dies are designed and cut in-house, with simulation analysis before steel is committed and vacuum nitriding afterwards. That means a bespoke section can be opened to a customer’s drawing, and an existing die can be modified where a project needs a variant rather than a whole new section – usually the faster and cheaper of the two routes.
Made-to-Order Sizing
Nothing here is sold from a fixed stock list. Cut length follows the schedule you issue, wall thickness is set anywhere within the envelope the section was designed for, finish colour is matched to an approved sample, and the bundle is made up to whatever suits handling at the far end. Cutting to schedule rather than to a stock bar is what removes offcut waste from the fabrication floor.
Factory and Export Capability
The approved partner manufacturer holds its own import-export licence for aluminium and aluminium products, so shipments are made direct from the factory rather than through an agent. Design capacity at the partner manufacturing base is 50,000 tonnes a year, over 100,000 tonnes across the group including multiple partner manufacturing bases. Export packing is moisture-barrier wrapping, protective film, foam interleaving and timber crating; FOB, CIF and DDP terms are all quoted and container loading is supervised in-house.
Extrude, Then Finish
The confirmed alloy and temper go through the press, then through whichever finish was agreed – anodising, powder, PVDF, electrophoresis or wood-grain transfer – matched to the approved colour panel.
Packed for the Voyage
Protective film, moisture-barrier wrap, foam between profiles and timber crates, loaded into the container under our own supervision, on FOB, CIF or DDP terms.
Other products in this range, and where they have been used
Semi-Unitised Curtain Wall System
Semi-unitised curtain wall system, 120 series aluminium profile for mid- and high-rise glazed facades.
The full range sits under Curtain Wall Systems, and the buildings and sites these products have gone into are listed under Overseas Facade Projects. If none of them is quite your specification, say what is different in the enquiry – most of what we ship is made to a drawing rather than picked off a shelf.
Send the drawings, the opening schedule or the performance target. Our engineers will confirm the series, the alloy, the finish and the delivered price — and tell you plainly if another series in the range fits your project better.
